Ace psychedelic 60s-inspired fuzz 'n' tremolo unit

Formed in 2006, RED ELECTRONS is the latest psychedelic project by singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Spyros Anagnostou. Spyros had been the guitarist/songwriter in dark wave group Not 2 Without 3 who, during 1983-86, gigged intensively in their hometown of Athens, as well as in several other cities of Greece. They appeared on a trio of extremely rare compilations: "The independent rock scene" (cassette-only, 1984), "Outsiders" (vinyl-only, 1985), and "AVR" (promo CD-only, 1995; features their utterly psyched-out cut, "Sun is the sun"). Spyros has also been part of several other musical ventures, including a number of new wave and rock groups active in Athens during 1982-1993. Not 2 Without 3 briefly reunited in 1987, 1989, 1995, and once on 22 May 2001, following the passing of original drummer Sotiris Tekos earlier that year in Cologne, Germany. On 14 March 2014, using the Not 2 Without 3 moniker, Spyros appeared at Athens venue, 'Gagarin 205', Athens, with original group vocalist, Vassilis. They performed 5 songs from the group's 1984-85 phase, in front of 1,200 attendees in a packed venue. Not 2 Without 3 are very likely to get together again in due course [stay tuned].

The early 80s had marked the beginning of Spyros' solo recording sessions in his F25 studio. Throughout the ensuing decades he carried on cutting numerous demo tapes of mostly self-penned folk, psychedelic pop and experimental material. That was until February 2006 when he put together the RED ELECTRONS as a vehicle for his songwriting. For the most part of their early lifetime (2006-2008) the group rehearsed as a power-trio, with the occasional (and eventually permanent) addition of a fourth member on rhythm guitar. It was in late May 2008 that the group became a one-man affair.

After establishing the MeiEno imprint in 2010, Spyros released the Red Electrons' debut CD, aptly titled "Live rehearsals at Soundmarine, 24 March 2008 & 5 May 2008", in an extremely limited edition. The group's sophomore album, "A set of demons" was released on 28 December 2011. "A set of demons" [or ASOD] is an altogether studio affair and features 10 tracks. The set opens with a new mix of "Night-tamer" which is only slightly different to the version that appears on YouTube. [See www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFZuquA7QeY ].

Sessions for "A set of demons" were held both at F25 and at K2, Spyros' additional (recording and mixing) studio facility. While the debut album is currently out of print, "A set of demons" is available either directly from Spyros Anagnostou [see links below] or from the Action Records store located at Mavromichali & Arahovis Street, Athens, Greece].

Early in 2014, Spyros began putting together a new set of tunes for what will become the RED ELECTRONS third album proper.
